It is with deep sorrow that the family of William Tirone announces his passing on April 26th in Maricopa, AZ. Born on April 27th,1930, in Middletown, Connecticut, he was one day from celebrating his 96th birthday. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Veronica (Zampini) as well a brother Mario, and two sisters Rose and Evelyn. He is survived by his daughter Ann Marie and son in law Paul Kokoszka of Maricopa, AZ and his son William Rocco and son in law Mark Hartsock of St. Louis, MO, as well as three grandsons and two great granddaughters and many nieces and nephews. He attended local schools and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Bill was known for his love of the outdoors including fishing, crabbing, and gardening. In his youth he was the only Boston Red Sox fan in his group of friends who were Yankees fans. He was also a fan of the UCONN Women’s basketball team. He loved animals and could often be seen feeding birds and small animals from the palm of his hand. He also had a dry sense of humor and was known as a man of few words, but boy, they could be zingers.
A graveside memorial service is planned for Thursday, June 25th at 10 a.m. at St. Sebastian’s Cemetery, Middlefield, CT. There are no calling hours.
