Gaetana ("Tina") Moncada, 81, of Middletown, wife of the late Giuseppe Moncada passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at Portland Care Rehabilitation on Saturday, January 18th. Tina was born in Alia, Palermo, Italy and moved to Middletown in 1971 to join her extended family. She was the daughter of Nicolino Bafumi and Gaetana (Barcellona) Bafumi. Her passion was her family and she devoted her life to them. She leaves behind her children: Nella Pelkey (Darry) and Gino Moncada (Donna); her four grandchildren, Christina Lombardo, Joseph Pelkey, Christian Moncada, Skyler Moncada (Emma) as well as her three great grandchildren: Sebastian and Joseph Bibisi and Leo Moncada; her seven siblings: Lucia Marino (the late Sebastian Marino), Pietro Bafumi (Carmelina), Giuseppe Bafumi (nella), Sebastian Bafumi (the late Deborah Bafumi), Concetto Bafumi (Roseanna), Santina Ferguson (Frederick), Graziella Dinos (the late Nikolaos Dinos), and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, January 23rd at 10 a.m. in St. Sebastian Church, Middletown. Burial will be in the fmaily plot in St. Sebastian's Cemetery, Middlefield. Friends may call at the Lastrina Family Funeral Home, 491 High ST., Middletown on Wednesday, Janury 22nd from 5 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Portland Care and Rehabilitation Recreation Department. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the entire staff for the loving care they provided Tina.
