It is with heavy, heavy hearts to let friends and family know of the passing of our “Pop”--known as “Eddie”, “Mag”, or “Maggie” on September 24th. He has peacefully passed on to finally be with the love of his life and soulmate, Alice. It has been almost 15 years since “Gram” has passed, so they are together again. Always in our hearts, the two
Born December 5th, 1933 in Middletown, he was the son of the late Fiorante (Floyd) and Rose (Bianchi) Magnano. He was predeceased by his sister, Vincentina (“Babe”) Gullitti, his brother, Floyd Magnano Jr., and his beloved wife, Alice (Casserino) Magnano.
His family took care of him, until our beloved “Pop” passed at home. He made it to 90, almost 91, with many pranks, full of humor, “free spirit”, and being the “life of the party”.
“Pop” learned his trade as a mechanic by working alongside his Dad and brother, and taking night classes at Vinal Tech. He worked for Chevron Oil in Portland over 22 years as lead mechanic. Chevron was known as Red Wing Oil prior to becoming Chevron. He worked for Jarv Barton at Portland Boat Works for 12 years, and finished his mechanic life with Daniels Oil, also in Portland. “Pop” worked this trade until his retirement.
What can be said about a “MAN” that stood taller than life itself? “Pop” was always available for all of us, willing to help whenever possible. He will be deeply missed, but NEVER FORGOTTEN.
We would like to send much appreciation and thanks to Dr. Acevedo for her visits and home care for “Pop”. Also, the staff at Portland Family Practice, Middlesex Hospital ER Dept., the 5th and 7thfloors at Middlesex for taking such great care of him while he was in the hospital. The staff of Middlesex Home Healthcare, and most of all, the staff of Middlesex Health Hospice. Thank you everyone for all your care, support and devotion to keeping “Pop” comfortable. We would have never gotten through this rough time without all of you. Last, but not least, we want to thank Sarah Caratasios, from the Portland Senior Center and Tommy’s Pizza for all her advice, care, support, and those wonderful meals.
