Concetta Pitruzzello, 100, of Middletown, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 20th at home. She was born on November 20th, 1924 in Melilli, Sicily and migrated to the United Stated in 1956. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Nicolo Pitruzzello. She was also predeceased by daughter Angela Spada, parents, and five brothers. She is survived by her son Vincent Pitruzzello and his wife Lisa of Portland; son-in-law Carmelo Spada of Middletown; four grandchildren: Joseph Spada and his wife Kristine, Nicholas Spada and his wife Alessandra, Daniel Pitruzzello and his wife Christie and Gina Pitruzzello; sister Lucia Pitruzzello of Sicily; and five great-grandchildren: Tyler Spada, Carmelo and Marco Spada, Vincent and Lyla Pitruzzello. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and nonna whose family meant the world to her. Concetta was a parishioner of St. Sebastian Church, in Middletown. She was an amazing cook who always made more than enough of her famous meatballs for everyone who visited.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, June 26th at 11:00 a.m. in St. Sebastian Church, Middletown. Friends may call at the Lastrina Family Funeral Home, 491 High St., Middletown on Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the family plot in St. Sebastian Cemetery, Middlefield.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Concetta’s name to St. Sebastian Church. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the wonderful nurses and staff at Middlesex Hospice Home Care and Elizabeth Pastula for her exceptional loving care for Concetta.
